Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh to Host the 2019 Golden Globes

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh to Host the 2019 Golden Globes

Canadian actress Sandra Oh and US comedian Andy Samberg will co-host the 2019 Golden Globe Awards in January, organizers said in a statement on Wednesday. Samberg won two Globes in 2014 for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" as a producer for best television series - musical or comedy, and best actor in a television series - musical or comedy.

"Sandra and Andy are the flawless choices to host this world-class event", said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, Co-Chairmen, NBC Entertainment in a joint statement. He is a Golden Globe victor for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and the series, also a Golden Globe recipient for best comedy-musical, launches on NBC Jan. 10, four days after the Globes. "It's sure to be another unforgettable fun-filled night", co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks said in a statement.

The outlet also reported that as things got down to the wire, 'there was even a point where many suggested that the 2019 Golden Globes have no host at all'. The news comes a day after Kevin Hart was tapped to host the 91st Oscars, in a time when awards show ratings are down across the board.

The "Killing Eve" star and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" comedian stole the show earlier this year while presenting an award at the Emmys together, leaving fans wanting more. Oh is the first person of color to emcee the show. The Golden Globes are set to air live on January 6 on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Beverly Hilton.

Meher Tatna is President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Dick Clark Productions executive chairman Allen Shapiro, CEO Mike Mahan and EVP of television Barry Adelman will serve as executive producers.

For his work on "SNL", Samberg earned an Emmy Award and six additional nominations. NBC picked it up a few days later.
