Arsenal players filmed using 'hippy crack'

After Arsenal players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil were reportedly caught doing "hippy crack" on video at the start of the season, the club has now released a statement regarding the incident.

The Sun reported that boxes of "laughing gas" canisters were brought to the players' area of the club and that footage showed Özil, Aubameyang, Guendouzi and Lacazette inhaling the gas.

Armenia captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan and German defender Shkodran Mustafi were also present, but they were not seen inhaling from balloons.

Arsenal endured a challenging start to the season, and manager Unai Emery found himself under a huge amount of pressure.

The club has now responded to the shocking footage, with a spokesperson telling the BBC that the players would be "spoken to and reminded of their responsibilities". It is not illegal to possess nitrous oxide but it is illegal to supply it under the 2016 Psychoactive Substances Act.

Around 70 girls were invited to join the Arsenal stars in London's Tape club, as the party racked up a bill of nearly £30,000.

Other well-known Premier League players have previously caused outrage after being filmed apparently inhaling the gas, including England internationals Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling.

The Gunners are now on an unbeaten run of 20 straight matches following their 2-2 draw with Manchester United midweek.
