Captain Marvel learns about her true origins in the new trailer

Which means that, before we get the Avengers 4 trailer, we've now got a new one for Captain Marvel.

And it wasn't long before Larson's character, Carol Danvers, brought some hurt.

"She's insane strong", Larson said during the Sun's visit to the set of Captain Marvel this past summer. "She can shoot photon blasts from her hands".

Alongside the hints that what she knows isn't the full or true story, it suggests that the transformation of Carol Danvers into a Kree warrior is going to be a crucial part of the narrative, even if it's told through flashback.

The New 'Captain Marvel' Trailer Is Here And It's Insane

"Heroes", she corrects him.

And it turns out in one of the trailer's few surprises that Fury has a thing for cats as we see him getting cuddly with Danvers' pet feline Goose. It will also directly impact the events of Avengers 4. Danvers is an ace military pilot who gets caught up in an intergalactic battle between two species, resulting in her being gifted with extraordinary super-powers.

"Your life began the day it almost ended", she says. The process enabled her to "live longer, stronger", which would explain how and why she'll be blasting into the present (presumably) without having aged after being summoned to Earth by Nick Fury in the present day ahead of Avengers 4, while her solo movie takes place in the 90s. Marvel was quick to confirm that a new Captain Marvel trailer was scheduled to premiere during Monday Night Football's halftime show, and we already saw the new clip.

The film, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, isn't Marvel's first foray into sci-fi - that honour goes to the Guardians of the Galaxy- but it has an element of mystery that will be fun for comic book fans to unpeel. There have been some brief instances of brainwashing and some typical comic book flavored stakes involving memory loss and time travel, but nothing that would really necessitate her origin involve her not remembering Earth.
