George W. Bush pays tribute to father through painting

George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush were noted dog lovers.

He will be laid to rest alongside Barbara Bush, his wife of 73 years who died in April, and Robin Bush, the daughter who died of leukemia at age 3.

The motorcade carrying his casket from the funeral home arrived Monday at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base outside Houston along a road lined with hundreds of onlookers.

The Instagram account for Bush's service dog, Sully, posted a touching photo of the dog in front of Bush's casket with the caption "Mission complete" following the 41st president's death at 94 on Friday. His body will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda for a public viewing from Monday until Wednesday morning. "They're both products of their time, and certainly President Bush, who I personally love, was a product of a much kinder, gentler time". His casket will be transported by motorcade Wednesday morning to the National Cathedral, where a state funeral will be held at 11 a.m. EST. His body will be transported by motorcade to St. Martin's Episcopal Church, where he and his wife regularly worshipped. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are scheduled to attend. The casket will be in a vehicle with Plexiglas windows to allow people to see it during the trip, according to family spokesman Jim McGrath.

The painting along with a memorial wreath grace the atrium area of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in University Park, Texas.

"The 41st president died late Friday at his Houston home at age 94".

His longtime spokesman, Jim McGrath, said Bush, the last president to serve in combat as a pilot during World War II, will wear socks paying tribute to his military service. The couple was married for 73 years, longer than any other USA presidential couple.
