Jake Gyllenhaal Teases Mysterio Ahead Of Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer

The actor, 37, used his first-ever Instagram post to announce his role in the action film.

Prior to what is thought to be the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer dropping on Saturday, Jake Gyllenhaal officially joins Instagram and teases none other than Mysterio.

Page turner: In the video, Jake looks stunned as he sets down the comic book, The Amazing Spider-Man: The Return of the Man Called Mysterio!

He jokingly captioned the post: "I just realized I'm not playing Spider-Man".

Jake Gyllenhaal fans were in for a huge surprise on Wednesday.

"And there is a sense of the scenes, with the casting in particular and also the storytelling, that you feel that you're actually in a movie with human beings in it".

Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, not Gyllenhaal, in the lead role, and comes out in July 2019. It's now unclear which incarnation of Mysterio Gyllenhaal will be portraying.

News broke back in May that Gyllenhaal had been tapped to play villain Mysterio in the new Spider-Man film, but both Marvel and the actor himself have been quiet on that - until now. He is a special effects experts who uses his talents to commit crimes.

Tom Holland starred as the Marvel hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming and recently appeared in Avengers: Infinity War.
