LeBron James sees logic in Magic and Kobe's concerns over his usage

LeBron James sees logic in Magic and Kobe's concerns over his usage

Even the beat writers just fawn over him.

"That's not the recipe for winning championships by no means, but it is a recipe to keep your head above water, to give yourself a little breathing room, and now it's going back to teaching how to play the way that we want to play".

With $38 million in salary cap space for 2019 free agency which should feature Kevin Durant, among others, the hope within the organization is another All-Star player will join James and the young Lakers.

Durant said it wasn't just the distracting influences on the periphery that makes playing with Lebron hard, fitting into James' style is also an integral part of being on his team.

"It depends on what kind of player you are", Durant said. "I think the difference here is that you have a collection of players with a lot of talent all young". They know what they're going to get out of me.

While Durant's theory certainly makes sense, we won't know if it holds true until next offseason with Kawhi Leonard set to test the open market next winter. Because Kyle Korver in Atlanta was the bulk of the offense, and he's not a No. 1 option at all, not even close.

"Kevin Love, he had to totally change his game to fit, to be a shooter", Durant said.

Former Phoenix Suns executive Amin Elhassan first brought up the issue last month, stating there was a problem with the Lakers if James was the leading scorer in the National Basketball Association this season.

"Which, I think, he deserves way more credit for switching his game".

But that doesn't mean James, who hasn't missed more than eight games in a season since 2003/04, believes the extra rest will help him much. Kawhi enjoys having the ball in his hands, controlling the offence, dictating the tempo with his post-ups; it's how he plays the game.

After rebuilding through the NBA Draft, the Lakers eventually established a talented young core that was enough to lure the game's best player in the first of a two-year window to make a splash in free agency. "They don't need another guy". He added that although James was playing a career-low 34.7 minutes, his minutes were high-usage minutes given his statistics.
