MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is coming almost 10 years after the last one and, unsurprisingly, it all revolves around the Infinity Gems. The cel-shaded graphics are back as well, and it looks swish as hell.

Marvel surprised everyone when it was announced the next entry in the Ultimate Alliance would be coming next year exclusively to Nintendo Switch tonight at The Game Awards.

It's not 100% clear who's publishing the new game but it seem to be Nintendo themselves, which implies they must've had some interesting conversations with Marvel.

The Black Order has been revealed for a 2019 release. The sequel to the Wii-era cooperative action game is published by Nintendo, and developed by Team Ninja. It's like Super Smash Bros. but with Marvel characters. This time, players may choose the traditional top-down perspective or a more zoomed in, "heroic" view. In MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order, up to four players can drop in for co-op battles in a variety of ways: They can play online*, link up offline via local wireless or pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend to join the team.

The first game arrived in 2006, with a sequel released three years later.

In case you're not familiar, the Ultimate Alliance games were isometric action-RPGs that pulled together heroes and villains across the Marvel multiverse to face down world-ending threats like Dr. Doom and Galactus.
