President Reportedly Will Name Milley As Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has been interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as a part of the sprawling Russian Federation investigation, despite initial objections, according to a new report from CNN.

"Though Trump asked Kelly over the summer to stay on as chief of staff for two more years, the two have stopped speaking in recent days", the report says.

Trump is actively discussing a replacement plan, though a person involved in the process said nothing is final right now and ultimately nothing is final until Trump announces it.

Trump has engaged in talks with Nick Ayers, the vice president's chief of staff, about taking over the position, advisers said.

Trump, who often likes to build drama and suspense by teasing his decisions, tells reporters at the White House Friday that he's going to be making an announcement at Saturday's Army-Navy game in Philadelphia.

Kelly, a retired four-star Marine Corps general, has been the president's top aide since late July 2017. But as of an hour ago, he hadn't been fired or resigned.

"The Mueller questions to Kelly centered on a narrow set of issues in the investigation of potential obstruction of justice, chiefly Kelly's recollection of an episode that took place after new reporting emerged about how the President had tried to fire Mueller", CNN reports.

At times, Kelly was the source of his own downfall. Lights are off in Kelly's office this morning, per a senior admin official. "It's not his strength", Trump said.
