Cameron church celebrates safe return of Jayme Closs

The young man allegedly killed Closs' parents, James and Denise, in order to abduct the teen from her home on 15 October a year ago, however his motive for the kidnapping remains unclear.

The grandfather of a 13-year-old northwestern Wisconsin girl says she's in "exceptionally good spirits" after being found almost three months after authorities say she was kidnapped during a home invasion that left her parents dead.

Neighbor Jeanne Nutter brought Closs to the Kasinskas' after she found the girl wandering in a daze on Thursday.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald has said he believes Patterson went to the Closs home outside Barron with the intention of taking Jayme.

United States teen Jayme Closs defied the odds and stunned the world after surviving an 88-day abduction by a man who is believed to have murdered her parents in her home in rural Wisconsin.

What's unclear, however, is how and why Patterson - from the remote community of Gordon two counties from Barron - allegedly chose Jayme for kidnapping.

The teen had been missing for nearly three months when she was found on a deserted backroad in Gordon, Wisconsin, after being kidnapped by Jake Patterson, 21.

Investigators say there's no evidence of any online interactions between him and Jayme.

Jayme was found Thursday outside the rural community of Gordon, where Patterson was holding her against her will in his home, authorities said.

"This family has always had this wonderful strength, they've always been there for each other long before this happened", she said.

Her aunt said Jayme slept well. Naiberg told the AP on Saturday that Jayme told Federal Bureau of Investigation agents she did not know Patterson. It appeared Patterson hid her from his friends and other people, the sheriff said without elaborating. "Did she go with him to the store?"

Investigators believe the goal of the assailant was to kidnap Jayme, though Patterson has no apparent prior connection to the family. "Did he buy food?" "She's in exceptionally good spirits".

"I'm lost and I don't know where I am, and I need help", Jayme told Nutter.

"She said to us that, 'This person killed my parents and took me, '" Kasinskas said.

The girl has been reunited with relatives, who shared pictures showing her smiling with her aunt and dog. Fearful the kidnapper may be looking for Jayme, she told her partner to get a gun as he called 911.

"It was great to know she was next to me all night", Jennifer Smith posted on Facebook on Saturday.

Although Jayme had disappeared, investigators said they initially "keyed in" on the parents because the daughter was an innocent child who they didn't believe could be targeted.

Her hair "was like a big dreadlock - like she'd been laying down", Kristin told The Post at her Wisconsin home.
