Craig McLachlan charged with assault and sex offences by Victoria Police

In November previous year, a preliminary hearing of the defamation case was told McLachlan declined to participate in an interview with Victoria Police as part of their investigation into the allegations of assault and indecent assault.

Victoria Police confirmed to Mumbrella that a 53-year-old New South Wales man has been charged with eight counts of indecent assault, one count of attempted indecent assault and one count of common law assault.

The former Neighbours star was accused of sexual misconduct by three women who worked with him in a 2014 production of the Rocky Horror Show.

McLachlan won the Gold Logie in 1990 as the most popular personality on Australian television.

McLachlan became known to TV audiences on the Young Doctors.

Craig McLachlan has been charged with offences dating back to 2014.

Trent Glover, for the police commissioner, told the court the refusal was one reason why he was abandoning a bid to preclude access to certain documents, produced in response to subpoenas, on grounds of public interest immunity.

He's been charged on summons to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on February 8.
