Gary Kubiak Wont Become Offensive Coordinator Of Broncos

Shortly before his news conference to introduce himself as the Broncos' new head coach, Vic Fangio met with Gary Kubiak about a possibility. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, due to differing opinions on staffing and offensive philosophy, Kubiak will not be the Broncos' next offensive coordinator. Kubiak was considered a top candidate for the job, but the Falcons hired Dirk Koetter on Tuesday.

Since then, Kubiak has worked as a senior personnel adviser for the Broncos.

Kubiak has had interest in returning to coaching this offseason. He went 21-11 and won Super Bowl 50 during that time but stepped down following the 2016 season for health reasons.

Mike Klis of Denver's 9News added a bit more detail, saying Kubiak wanted to bring back assistant coaches Rick Dennison and Brian Pariani, who were fired in Denver's last housecleaning two years ago.

Kubiak's zone-run scheme seemed like a flawless fit, much in the way his offense fit seventh-round pick Justin Forsett in Baltimore.

Mike Munchak, offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, looks on during the fourth quarter against the Tennessee Titans at LP Field on November 17, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee.
