Virat Kohli used Rayudu's services for just two overs during the Sydney ODI during which the part-time spinner returned with figures of 0/13.

Australia fended off an explosive century from Rohit Sharma to post a morale-boosting 34-run victory over India in the first one-day global.

Dhoni was unlucky as the ball that trapped him in front had pitched outside the line of the leg stump but the wicketkeeper-batsman consumed too many deliveries during his stay at the crease.

While it was the three wickets inside the opening fours overs, which put Australia in control, there was also a sight later in the innings, which will gladden the hearts of the home side: a hint of reverse swing.

"We kept losing wickets at the wrong time", Sharma said. "Rohit Sharma was under tremendous pressure after that", Harbhajan told Sports Tak.

"Rohit was outstanding and MS Dhoni supported him well but we could have done better with the tempo of the game".

Harbhajan said the day Dhoni finds his mojo back all the issues relating to India's middle-order will be sorted.

In a season where there hasn't been much cheer for the Australia team, the sight of two inexperienced pacemen, Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson, making sizeable inroads into India's top order at the SCG will have been welcome.

"Personally always feel that Dhoni batting at number four will be ideal for the team but we have got Rayudu who has done really well now at number four". Dhoni has won many matches for India in the past. "I think it's somewhere in-between they'll eventually get there before the World Cup - they'll have a mixture of power and precision". The way he batted in the IPL 2018 was brilliant. I have completed my 10 over quota in a lot of Hazare games and got breakthroughs.

Harbhajan further praised Rishabh Pant and said India must include the power-hitter in the side.

"When he came out to bat today (Saturday), we'd already lost three wickets, the guys were bowling pretty well and we had to respect that spell", Rohit said. While Gill will join the squad only for the New Zealand tour that comprises of five ODIs and three T20Is, Vijay will be joining the team ahead of the second ODI of the ongoing series against Australia.
