In Botched Delivery, Nurse "Pulls Too Hard" Leaving Baby's Head In Womb

In Botched Delivery, Nurse

Both men have been suspended and an internal investigation is now underway. After the incident, the nurse along with a colleague deposited the lower part of the foetus in the centre's mortuary and asked the family of the victim to take her to Jaisalmer for further treatment.

Police in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district have booked two people working at a community health centre (CHC) in Ramgarh for alleged negligence during a woman's delivery, resulting in the baby's body being split into two.

The incident was reported from Jaisalmer's Ramgarh.

During the birth, it is understood the baby was in breech and when a nurse attempted to pull it out, he ripped the child's body in two from the torso down, leaving the head inside Ms Kanwar's womb.

The man in charge of the heath centre in Ramgargh, Dr Nikhil Sharma, said he wasn't present at the time of the incident.

Dr Sharma has also been taken off duty while the investigation continues.

They later lied to the gynaecologist at Jodhpur Umaid Hospital that they had finished the delivery. The family came to know about it after they were informed by the doctors in Jodhpur, who surgically removed the baby's head.

An Indian nurse allegedly tore the head off an unborn foetus while in the delivery room.

What is more shocking is that the woman named Diksha Kumar visited a different hospital only to find out about the fiasco as the staff at the previous hospital didn't inform her about the debacle.

Dr Usha Duggad, principal medical officer at Jawahar government hospital said it was a rare case. The baby was half out when the pregnant woman was brought to the PHC. "I will prepare a complete report on the incident and hand it over to health directorate", he said.
