Ivanka Trump on List of Possible Candidates to Lead World Bank

You know things are especially and deeply batshit when Ivanka Trump is the second-most ludicrous name on a list to head The World Bank.

The Financial Times reported that Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump is being considered for the role.

Ivanka Trump, 37, serves as a senior adviser to the president; she shut down her own fashion label in July, saying that she would focus on her job in the White House.

She began her career as a model before moving into business and accompanying her father at the boardroom table on the hit TV show 'The Apprentice'.

The Times reported that other candidates for the position include former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and current Treasury official David Malpass.

The Treasury Department told AFP on Friday it was not going to make statements about potential candidates.

An unwritten agreement states that the United States, which is the bank's largest shareholder, always chooses the head of the institution since it was founded after the Second World War. The US Treasury Department is said to have already received "a significant number of recommendations for good candidates" and kicked off "the internal review process" to decide on the candidate.

Kim was the first American nominee to face a contested election for the World Bank presidency in 2012 and the bank's board has said its selection process will be "open, merit-based and transparent", implying non-US candidates would not be ruled out.

'We are beginning the internal review process for a U.S. nominee, ' they said.

A new president selected by Trump could change The World Bank's priorities.
