Jerry Stiller recovering in hospital after medical 'episode'

Actor and comedian Jerry Stiller, 91, suffered a medical scare on Wednesday night that landed him the in the hospital but is now better and recovering.

The beloved Seinfeld star's condition was reported to be serious.

"He is doing well and will be home this weekend", a family friend tells PEOPLE of his health.

"He had some sort of episode and they wanted to be cautious", the pal said, responding to a published report Wednesday night that claimed he suffered a stroke."There's no evidence of a stroke".

"There are no signs of a stroke". He's totally fine, ' a source told the Daily News.

Stiller is the father of comedian Ben.

Stiller picked up an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series during his tenure on Seinfield.

Stiller also appeared opposite his son in Zoolander.

Stiller, a World War II veteran, earned a bachelor's degree in Speech and Drama in 1950 from Syracuse University.

He is 91 years old.

Jerry formed a successful comedy duo, Stiller and Meara, with his wife Anna in the 60s and 70s.
