Lil Uzi Vert Announces He's Quitting Music: 'I Wanna Be Normal'

The 24-year-old rapper surprised fans on Friday when he announced via Instagram Stories that he's stepping away from music.

The announcement comes as Uzi was readying his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Eternal Atake, which was expected to be released this year.

Lil Uzi Vert says he's done with music. "I deleted everything. I wanna be normal ..."

Fans immediately took to social media to register their distress that the rapper might literally have deleted files for his second studio album, "Eternal Awake", which he's been teasing for months and had claimed was near completion.

Lil Uzi - real name Symere Woods - added messages reading "You are free" and "Thank you love you". "I'm finally done with that joint", said Uzi, who also debuted a new song from the project. In his verse on Shabazz PBG's "Shells", Lil Uzi Vert raps, "Tryna figure out how I'm tryna get out my deal".

He recived his first number one hit featuring on Migos' Bad and Boujee, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Performance.

We can only hope that Lil Uzi's "retirement" is similar to that of Jay Z and Justin Bieber.

The "XO Tour Llif3" rapper unexpectedly announced that he is "done with music".
