Mahomes expected to sign record deal in 2020

The deal is expected to be the NFL's first $200 million contract.

My, how quickly the times have changed.

According to National Football League insider for ESPN Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are expected to sign Mahomes to a record-setting contract.

Sources are telling ESPN, Kansas City will (obviously) want to re-sign the second-year quarterback as soon as he's eligible for an extension in 2020. He threw for 50 touchdowns, which led the National Football League, and 5,097 yards on 66 percent passing, with just 12 interceptions.

During the regular season, Mahomes completed 66 percent of his passes for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns and posted a quarterback rating of 113.8.

Aside from the big game, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is on the verge of doing something that no player in National Football League history has done, and that's receive a MLB-type of contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The first-year starting QB earned first-team All-Pro honors and is the front-runner to win the NFL's most valuable player award this year after leading the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and the top seed in the AFC. While snow or freezing rain is no longer in the forecast for this exciting playoff matchup, the temperatures at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City will be well below freezing at kickoff.
