Meghan Markle’s Bodyguard Quits After Just Six Months

Meghan Markle’s Bodyguard Quits After Just Six Months

The bodyguard, who has not been named for security reasons, has been head of Meghan and Harry's security for less than a year.

She follows personal assistant Melissa Touabti, who departed Kensington Palace past year after six months in the role, and Harry and Meghan's private secretary Samantha Cohen.

In November, Prince Harry and Meghan's private secretary Samantha Cohen was the first royal aide to announce her resignation, after working for the royal family for 17 years.

A report from Daily Mail says the top female officer - the first woman to ever work as a key security officer for the Royals - is leaving Scotland Yard. She told the household and principals at Christmas. It's a real shame as she was a great addition to the team and hugely liked.

But despite Meghan being due to give birth to her and Harry's birthday in March or April, she and Harry are showing no signs of slowing down as they take on more engagements. According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, Meghan is very into food: "He loves cooking, exploring new foods, and experimenting with fresh flavours". There was reportedly no conflict between the security officer and Markle, but it is said to be hard to accommodate the Duchess' requests to be seen as "one of the people".

Meghan and Harry went on to greet well-wishers in Hamilton Square.

Meghan, then 14 weeks into her pregnancy, was meeting female entrepreneurs but was whisked away after only eight minutes.

"It's taken a while for Meghan to get used to having the palace more involved with her life and steering her public image, but she's finally getting comfortable and trusts that they have her best interests at heart", the source said.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick is keen to raise the number of women in senior jobs.

The Met could not confirm the bodyguard had quit because they said they do not comment on anyone involved in the bodyguard role.
