Paul George Saves Thunder From Collapse, Delivers 117-115 Win in Philly

Victory lifts the Thunder to a 27-18 record in the tightly contested Western Conference, where just three wins separates third from eighth. But Paul George converted a four-point play with 5.1 left to provide the winning margin.

Westbrook later fouled out by fouling Embiid on a three-point attempt.

"I got the shot I wanted coming off the screen and I got a good look at the basket", George said.

Embiid later sounded unsure why Westbrook was so upset.

It was Butler's seventh go-ahead basket in the final 10 seconds of an National Basketball Association game since the 2015-16 campaign, matching Thunder star Russell Westbrook for the most in that span. Asked if he was "cool" with Embiid, Westbrook used an expletive before saying "No".

Westbrook and Embiid's feud dates back to December 2017, when the latter waved goodbye to the Oklahoma City crowd after Steven Adams fouled out of that clash. "Our defense has got to be ... if somebody's beat, we're gonna help 'em", George said from the bench on ESPN's "Wired" segment during the first half.

Westbrook and German guard Dennis Schroder each scored 21 points with Westbrook also adding 10 rebounds.

George simply took over in the fourth quarter, where he scored 14 of his 31 points. JJ Redick scored 22 points for Philadelphia, and Ben Simmons finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.

With less than two minutes remaining and Oklahoma City leading by two, 106-104, the Thunder turned a turnover into a fastbreak the other way.

Big Time Ferg. Ferguson continued lighting it up from long range, hitting 3-of-6 en route to 11 points for the game.
