Person decapitated by helicopter at Florida airport

During a news conference, Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis told reporters that, even though foul play is not expected, a full investigation will take place.

A man was decapitated in a helicopter accident at a Florida airport Thursday, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. He died instantly, police said. A caller told 911 that he and Disi were working on the helicopter and using a power auto to jumpstart it.

DiSi and his colleague succeeded, but the helicopter lurched into the air suddenly, then came down too quickly, bringing the maintenance worker's head into contact with the fast-moving blade.

He called it a "serious aircraft accident" that involved a death.

"I believe fire rescue was on the way but we cancelled them because it was a very obvious death", she said.

Following a request from the airport, the Medical Examiner's Office in Leesburg collected the body from the scene.

According to U.S. News and World Report, Bonati has been a medical practitioner for two decades since graduating from Universidad de Cadiz Faculty of Medicine. The Sheriff's Office has reported it to the Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
