But the sheriff said it did not appear Patterson interacted with the couple during his brief time there. She said they stole things and spent time in foster care. "I'd probably faint because I would be so happy to see her", Tuders said.

"I'm lost and I don't know where I am, and I need help", Jayme told Nutter, the woman told the station. [But] he knew what he was doing.

Fitzgerald said officials did not yet know how she escaped, saying only that she had been released from the hospital and was being reunited with family.

Fitzgerald said Saturday that investigators believe Patterson acted alone. Charles Glynn and Richard Jones said in a statement that they await Patterson's initial court appearance and the filing of charges against him on Monday.

While authorities are still trying to determine the motive behind the kidnapping, more details about Patterson have emerged. It's wild country; roadside signs admonish motorists to share the pavement with ATVs.

The Baron county sheriff holds up a photo of the suspect, Jake Thomas Patterson.

Patterson, an unemployed resident of Gordon, was charged on Friday with kidnapping and with murdering James and Denise Closs with a shotgun.

Following his arrest, Patterson's family, including his mother and brother, "shut down their social media accounts", the Star Tribune reported.

Despite Erik Patterson's criminal record, few across the township seem to have heard of his family. Neighbour Daphne Ronning told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the parents moved away but that Patterson and his older brother, Erik, continued to stay in the cabin.

In November, the sheriff said he kept similar cases in the back of his mind as he worked to find Jayme, including the abduction of Elizabeth Smart, who was 14 when she was taken from her Salt Lake City home in 2002. The discovery ended an all-out search that gripped Wisconsin, with many people fearing the worst the longer she was missing.

Jayme was pictured smiling alongside her relieved aunt Jennifer Naiberg Smith, who gave permission for the image to be used after their emotional reunion.

She said, 'I'm Jayme, ' the woman told CNN affiliate WCCO.

Finding Jayme alive has brought up a lot of emotions for kidnapping victims and families of missing children.

Smart called Closs fearless, strong, and a powerful survivor - but also says there is a long road ahead.

Another Aunt, Sue Allard, said she could barely express her joy after learning the news.

Erik once lived in the same rural cabin in Gordon, Wisconsin where Jayme was held captive.

"She said that this person's name was Jake Patterson, 'he killed my parents and took me, '" said another neighbor, Kristin Kasinskas.

He added: 'She did not talk about why or how.

"I'm going to give her the biggest hug and tell her that I'm here for her and that I love her very much", she said on the morning show.

Barron County Sheriff Christopher Fitzgerald said he does not believe her kidnapper took her across state lines.

"I think hope helps you get through the day.it makes it easier", Simmers said.

Authorities have said they don't believe Patterson crossed paths with Jayme's parents there.

Less than 15 minutes later, Jake Patterson, 21, was in custody after police pulled over his vehicle, based on Closs' description.
