Thomas Muller: Bayern Munich forward suspended for Liverpool tie

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Mueller has been banned from both games against Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16. His studs connected with the Argentine defender's face and Clement Turpin showed him a straight red card.

Muller was sent off in the 75th minute of Bayern Munich's 3-3 draw against Ajax on December 12 when he kicked Nicolas Tagliafico in the head while lunging for the ball.

Afterwards the 29-year-old said sorry via Twitter, writing: 'I would like to apologise to Nico Tagliafico for yesterday's incident.

Liverpool will host Bayern Munich on February 19 at Anfield in the first leg. Bayern Munich will welcome Liverpool to Allianz Arena on March 13 for the second leg. It was unintentional. Get well soon'.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's Croatia Dejan Lovren defender has been banned for one worldwide match over comments he made on social media about opponents Spain following his side's 3-2 Nations League win in November.

Lovren posted a video on Instagram where he appeared to boast about elbowing Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos and made insulting comments about the Spain team following the game on March 15.

Paris Saint-Germain have escaped with a fine from European football's governing body UEFA following crowd trouble at their Champions League home game against Red Star Belgrade in October.
