Viswasam box office collection Day 9: Ajith film continues to break records

Viswasam box office collection Day 9: Ajith film continues to break records

Distributors of the recent Ajith-starrer Viswasam have claimed that the film completed a gross collection of Rs 125 crores across Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

In fact, Tamil Film Producers Council president Vishal has been insistent that a "centralised" ticketing system be established in Tamil Nadu to know the box office figures, which form the basis for an actor's remuneration and the film's budget.

Anticipation has been rife on which film did better at the movies since both were big star vehicles, one with Ajith and the other with Rajinikanth. Well, they do make a deadly combo, why not do one or even more projects together?

Both Petta and Viswasam have eaten into each other's business but apparently, there isn't much of an adverse impact as the long stretch of Pongal holidays has benefited both the films immensely. However, unlike Rajinikanth's movie, Viswasam is only released in Tamil. It was officially announced that Viswasam has fetched 125 Crores from its run in the Tamil Nadu region alone. Honestly, this was expected to happen as Thala was coming after the gap over a year on the silver screen while Rajinikanth was last seen two months back in Shankar's 2.0. The film, which has been shot predominantly in north India, has music by Anirudh Ravichander. This is a fantastic achievement, considering the clash with Thala Ajith's Viswasam which has also done really well, grossing 8.25 CR in 9 days. The film was bankrolled by Arjun Thyagarajan and Sendhil Thyagarajan under the banner Sathya Jyothi Films.
