Wisconsin bus driver rescues child

This is not the first time a Milwaukee County Transit System driver has saved a child. Surveillance video from the bus shows Ivic's view of the boy as he ran over a freeway overpass. She scooped up the boy and carried him to the bus.

Bus driver Irena Ivic had started her morning just like any other when she was shocked to see the baby boy on the side of the road in Milwaukee in the U.S. state of Wisconsin in December. He was wearing just a onesie and a diaper.

She runs across the street and picks up the crying boy, who was making his way around a corner, bringing him on board her bus.

Authorities say besides being cold and frightened, the toddler was OK.

"I'm shaking", the driver said.

On Thursday, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele honored Ivic for her heroic actions.

Ivic-Drobnjak's Facebook profile says she's from Prokuplje, a city in southern Serbia.

Ivic-Drobnjak cradles and rocks the child and just as the police arrive, the baby boy has fallen asleep.

"She did a lot more than her job".

Authorities reunited the baby boy with his father.

Police told WISN-TV the boy had been left outside by his mother, who they believed may have been suffering from a mental health crisis.

This is the ninth time a lost or missing child has been found by a Milwaukee County Transit System driver in recent years, according to the release.
