Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 7 with 48MP camera

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7 Pro will sport a Sony IMX586 sensor and will launch around Chinese New Year.

After the price cut, the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant of Xiaomi Redmi 6 is now priced at Rs 7,999 and the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 8,999. The company is expected to launch the phone in India soon.

Before Redmi 6, on Thursday, Xiaomi reduced the India price of Redmi 6 Pro. And even though there's no information about the price, considering the unbelievable price tag of Redmi Note 7, it's safe to assume that the Pro variant will launch at an equally (if not more) awesome price. The mid variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory costs CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs. 12,400).

Despite the low price tag of the handset, Lei Jun says it has gone through the same quality tests as Xiaomi's flagship models. Preorders for the handset have started in China and it will go on sale from January 15. It comes in four colour options of rose gold, gold, blue and black. After the price cut the 3GB RAM/32GB model of the phone now retails at Rs 9,999 while the 4GB/64GB storage variant of Redmi 6 Pro has been reduced to Rs 11,999.

Due to the notch at the top of the display, the Note 7 has a 6.3-inch LCD screen with 2340x1080 pixels. Under the skin, the power packs an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC mated with Adreno 512 GPU and up to 6GB RAM. Compared to the Redmi Note 6 Pro, the Redmi Note 7 is a major upgrade. It comprises of 48MP primary sensor and 5MP secondary sensor with dual-LED flash and AI capabilities.

The selfie camera has a 13MP sensor, with AI algorithms for beautification and portrait mode. Redmi 6 is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery. The company claims that the battery is capable of providing backup up to 13 hours of video playback, 23 hours of talk time and 7 hours of gaming.
