Aguero, City humiliate Chelsea _ and referee joins in japes

Mark Lawrenson believes Manchester City will beat Chelsea FC on Sunday despite backing Gonzalo Higuain to get on the score-sheet at The Etihad.

Sergio Aguero's second hat trick in a week stole the show, with Raheem Sterling (two) and Ilkay Gundogan completing the scoring. At the beginning (of the season) it worked.

"I don't see any indication from the manager that he is looking to do anything else".

"After three games in a week - tough games against Arsenal and at Goodison Park - playing the way we played with this intensity and patience to find spaces in the right moments, the players were outstanding".

"My target is to play my football, and not to change to other football (styles), Sarri said".

"At the beginning we played better away than at home, now we play better at home, so something has changed and I am not able to see the reason, so I have to work for this", Sarri continued.

"I know what he wants to do", Guardiola told a news conference after City leapfrogged Liverpool to reclaim top spot in the Premier League table.

"We need to understand". I am anxious about the performance but my job is always at risk so I am not anxious about the club.

Following the loss to the Cherries on the south coast, Sarri was openly critical of the mentality of his players and that he could not motivate them.

"I don't know, you have to ask the club", said Sarri, who was hired after leaving Napoli. The loss left them outside the Champions League places and the pressure is mounting on manager Sarri. Now we play better at home than away.

"This kind of person, these type of games, the football helps to make it better".

During that period, Liverpool have the opportunity to move three points clear in the title race when they travel to face a resurgent Manchester United. "My first year was hard too".

The Italian was probed as to whether his job could be in danger during a post-match interview with Sky Sports and admitted talks with the club's hierarchy are likely to be held, though he stressed that was a "normal" outcome after a game. "People expect with a new manager and buying players it comes immediately, but it needs time".

Graeme Souness believes Liverpool will have to win every game for the rest of the season if they are to lift the Premier League trophy in May. Standing between Chelsea and the League Cup is City in the final on February 24 at Wembley Stadium. Jurgen Klopp's side must respond in their next league game, which happens to be against United at Old Trafford in two weeks.
