Borussia Dortmund's flight to London delayed because Jadon Sancho forgot passport

Dortmund's flight to London for their Champions League tie with Tottenham Hotspur was delayed on Wednesday (NZT) because the 18-year-old winger forgot to bring his passport.

Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund is challenged by Evan Obite Ndicka of Eintracht Frankfurt during the Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund at Commerzbank-Arena on February 2, 2019 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs manager, refused to expand on what he called "rumours" but said he was not surprised by how well Sancho's career has developed. Dortmund surrendered a three-goal lead at home to Hoffenheim, while Spurs ended up with a very flattering 3-1 win over Leicester in a game that they could quite easily have lost.

"I think we were talking in the last few years that he was a massive prospect to be a very good player".

"Of course he is showing now in Germany that he can cope with the pressure to play in the Bundesliga or in the Champions League".

Despite being highly-regarded by Pep Guardiola at City, Sancho made a decision to leave in pursuit of first-team football and Spurs were among the clubs linked with a move for him before he joined Dortmund.

All eyes will be on Sancho when he features against Spurs at Wembley, as the England worldwide is set for something of a homecoming in the city where he grew up.
