Grammys 2019: See all the red carpet arrivals

Grammys 2019: See all the red carpet arrivals

A few hours before the main 61st Grammy Awards show, Brandi Carlile was already on a roll.

Looming predictions of rain could also put a damper on this year's awards ceremony.

The track will compete for more Grammys, including song of the year, record of the year and best pop duo/group performance.

Beck was a double victor during the pre-telecast, taking home best alternative music album and best engineered album (non-classical) for "Colors". "And I am not hung up on what happens or doesn't happen", she said. The Girl on Fire singer will be hosting the awards for the first time in her career.

The Grammys have also struggled with gender inequality, an issue that came to its head a year ago.

Viewers may also be paying close attention to the number of female winners, as a year ago the show made headlines when Alessia Cara was the only woman to nab a solo Grammy.

The 2019 Grammy Awards take place this Sunday, February 10th, and exclusive broadcasting rights for the music awards show in Canada goes to Rogers Media, which will be airing the Grammys on Citytv.

"Yes, we have so much more work to do, but this is a moment to be celebrated".

Artists scheduled to perform include Diana Ross, Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, Dan + Shay, H.E.R., Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Post Malone and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The 37-year-old musician is the most-nominated female artist at this year's awards, earning six nominations.

The main performers for this year includes Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Dua Lipa, St. Vincent, Chloe x Halle and Travis Scott.

"This is just the beginning of moving to a more inclusive future", Monae said.

Ehrlich told the AP that Grande "felt it was too late for her to pull something together". "Know that I support you - win or lose", Monae said. "I came out of the closet at 15 years old when I was in high school, and I can assure you that I was never invited to any parties and never got to attend a dance". "I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more".

Grande added that she had offered to perform three different songs, but that the process, which she wrote should be "about art and honesty", wound up feeling like a game: "that's not what music is to me", she concluded.

"And I feel like it's a time in this country when women need to support each other and their decisions. I am such a misfit", she said.

Grande is nominated for two awards and could miss the chance of giving a speech onstage if she wins. Taylor Swift, who was snubbed and one scored one nomination, also won't be at the show.

The Grammys are in even worse shape than the Oscars when it comes to figuring out ratings and appeal, and face a continued low-key boycott from music's biggest names on account of an ongoing problem with representation across nominations. Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Andra Day will honor the late Aretha Franklin with a performance.
