Jeremy Lin finalizing buyout with Hawks, to sign with Raptors

Gasol, who spent his first 10 1/2 seasons of his National Basketball Association career with the Memphis Grizzlies before being traded to Toronto last week, learned that lesson before the Raptors played the Nets.

Gasol received a standing ovation when he checked in for Ibaka at 3:03 of the first.

Lin's arrival in Toronto takes on greater importance with Raptors guard Fred VanVleet expected to miss at least three weeks with a partially torn ligament in his left thumb. VanVleet was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday's (Sunday, PHL time) win at NY.

Now Lin is on Toronto's side.

The Raptors will add point guard Jeremy Lin on either Wednesday or Thursday, having successfully navigated the buyout market following Lin's release from the Atlanta Hawks.

McCaw scored the first five points of the second quarter, cutting Brooklyn's lead to three.

Leonard scored nine points in the second but Harris made two more from long range, giving Brooklyn a 60-56 lead at halftime. F DeMarre Carroll (left knee) was not available.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, who coached Lin in the past, was impressed by the Lin pickup.

Still, things haven't been quite as good for the Raptors of late as they were during their torrid start to the season, and at home on Monday they found themselves in a dog fight with the Nets - who seemingly are in a tight game every night. Musician Sting attended the game.
