Karl-Anthony Towns Involved In Car Accident

Coach Ryan Saunders told the newspaper Towns caught a commercial flight after the accident and missed a team shootaround.

Karl-Anthony Towns is missing a game for the first time in his career, unable to play for Minnesota against the Knicks on Friday night following a auto accident. The club listed Towns on the injury report with "rest" as the reason. There is a chance they might be without their best player.

Tonight's impact: Towns is arguably the league's most durable player, as he has yet to miss a game in his career and holds the active record for consecutive games played (303).

Towns was driving to an airport in Minneapolis when the accident occurred, according to Chris Hine of the Star Tribune.

He played in the NBA All-Star Game, scoring 11 points and grabbing three rebounds in 11 minutes of action. The New Jersey product would have been playing close to home Friday.

Saunders didn't know if Towns would travel with the team for its game Saturday in Milwaukee, or return to Minnesota.
