Man United march into top 4 after defeating Fulham

In fact, the Red Devils could end the week in the top four, should Chelsea fail to win against Manchester City on Sunday.

Manchester United eased past Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with a clinical first half leading the Red Devils to victory. United remain unbeaten under their former striker Solskjaer, who has lifted the gloom from the unlamented Mourinho's divisive reign and put himself in contention to land the job on a permanent basis.

United have some huge games coming up including the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

With United's clash against PSG on his mind, Solskjaer made six changes, leaving out Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Victor Lindelof.

An encouraging start from Fulham saw Luciano Vietto scuff a volley wide from a promising position, and that miss was punished by Pogba 14 minutes in, the midfielder racing onto Martial's pass and blasting left-footed beyond Sergio Rico at the near post.

Schurrle fired over from close-range after Alexsandar Mitrovic harried Chris Smalling into another mistake moments later.

United seemed happy to invite Fulham onto them in order to strike on the break, and they did so in ruthless fashion 23 minutes in. The France global received a pass from Martial and squeezed a fierce left-footed shot into the near corner.

Solskjaer has received well-deserved praise for his exploits at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho's departure, but the humble boss is keen to share the applause with his staff.

Solskjaer said he had met United owner Avram Glazer after the game, but he wouldn't be drawn on whether they would have any further meetings to discuss his future at the club. Yet Pogba was reduced to the role of admiring spectator for once when his compatriot Martial doubled United's lead in the 23rd minute.

Gary Neville compared Anthony Martial to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Manchester United winger's sensational individual goal against Fulham. The Frenchman took off, bursting forward under pressure from Denis Odoi and jinked past Le Marchand before finding the bottom corner.

United dominated the second half without exerting themselves.

United piled on the misery for Ranieri in the 65th minute.

Just after the hour-mark, Pogba would score again, this time from the penalty spot after Juan Mata was fouled in the box by Maxime Le Marchand, a player who had a game to forget.
