Ravens to trade Flacco to Broncos

Ravens to trade Flacco to Broncos

Denver had Case Keenum under center in 2018.

He was stoic, tough and resilient. He reported when completed, the Ravens will likely get a mid-round pick. For the Ravens, who had previously stumbled in their quest to find a franchise quarterback to pair with their star-studded defense, that was plenty good enough. The trade can't be made official until the beginning of the new league year on March 13. Additionally, Schefter notes that both teams are prohibited from commenting on the trade or terms surrounding it.

Trade talks between Baltimore and Denver commenced Monday and culminated Wednesday morning, when the Broncos agreed to the deal for Flacco, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII.

The decision to trade Flacco shows the team's commitment to quarterback Lamar Jackson who was the team's first round pick a year ago. Flacco is set to make $18 million in 2019. The Broncos will carry $10 million in dead money if they cut him.

One running gag on social media is the question about whether Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco is elite.

Flacco, 34, has no more guaranteed money on his contract. According to Over The Cap's calculator, trading Flacco will free up $28.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021. Since then, Denver has drafted Brock Osweiler (2012 second round), Paxton Lynch (2016 first round) and three seventh-round picks, per SB Nation.
