Sarri wants new players - if he keeps his job

Maurizio Sarri however insists he is not anxious by rumours that he could be sacked.

Maurizio Sarri arrived at Chelsea after an underachieving yet fruitful stint with Napoli, who had gone the closest to breaking Juventus' dominance of Italian league football.

Carragher made the remark at half time of Chelsea's 6-0 humiliation against Man City at the weekend when the score was already 4-0, with Sarri's men conceding four goals in 19 first-half minutes at the Etihad.

The Blues were thumped 6-0 at Manchester City on Sunday, with a third successive Premier League loss on the road seeing them slip down to sixth in the table.

His defensive capabilities were called into question on numerous occasions and it has to go down as one of his worst performances for Chelsea.

"I'm just happy to be working with Maurizio again at a big club like Chelsea which has so much history and wonderful team-mates", Higuain told Chelsea's official magazine.

"With all top teams, the important thing is that you come back strong - no matter what type of defeat".

The pressure seems to be getting to Sarri.

"More often than not this season Liverpool have done that". In particular, their showings in the big away games have left much to be desired, which is exactly where Arsenal have been lacking in recent seasons.

"And what I do know for sure is the club will not accept that, the owner will not accept that and history shows that when the team is not playing at the level that is required and expected for a club like that, what they have achieved over the years, they do take measures".
