Sketchy report claims AirPods 2, AirPower and new iPads coming March 29

Speculation has been building for several months now that Apple will release a new version of the smallest iPad in its tablet lineup. The upgraded earbuds will also be available with the AirPods wireless charging case fans have been waiting for. Last year, the company unveiled the iPad 6, the first-ever low-priced slate from the manufacturer to feature support for the Apple Pencil, on March 29.

According to Buzzfeed, Apple's event is scheduled for Monday, March 25th at the Steve Jobs theater.

If the rumor proves to be true, the AirPods 2 release date could coincide with the iPhone 11's predicted launch date in early September.

iPhone Hellas also notes that AirPods 2 will feature "Hey Siri" support, which will let users invoke the digital assistant by voice, as is the case on other Apple devices. Also, the earphones are expected to come in two color options, including black and white according to a recent report. After all, there are plenty of original AirPods owners who'd like the ability to charge their earbuds up wirelessly - even if they weren't doing so on an official Apple wireless charger.

The iPad Mini 5 might be speedier than its predecessor, as the report says the device could be fitted with an A10 Fusion chip or an A10X Fusion chipset.

Apple hasn't discussed the product since it was first announced in September 2017.

It will feature a redesigned charging coil configuration, making the mat slightly thicker than before and, possibly, to prevent any overheating issues. $160 was expensive enough, but then we said that about the iPhones before Apple raised the prices for this generation. New rumors posted today (February 12, 2019) have given conflicting indications as to when the putative AirPods 2 may be released.

The latter, it now seems, is most likely.
