Bears Sign Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to One-Year Deal

The Bears have addressed their safety need.

Star safeties like Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu signed on the first day, while Earl Thomas needed just one extra day to make his decision.

After spending most of his career with the Green Bay Packers in addition to a brief stint with the Washington Redskins, the 26-year-old safety has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears.

The Redskins were believed to have wanted Clinton-Dix to return.

This deal is phenomenal for both sides.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Clinton-Dix's contract is worth $3.5 million - far less than many other safeties who hit the open market. Clinton-Dix and Jackson will now form one of the most formidable safety duos in the National Football League, playing behind a fearsome front seven that already includes Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks.

The bad news is that the Packers soured on him, and Clinton-Dix was up and down in nine games with Washington last season. Playing safety against Aaron Rodgers in practice every day for over four years should certainly help, too.

New Bears cornerback Buster Skrine spent time with Clinton-Dix on Thursday morning, during the latter's visit to the Bears.

Clinton-Dix has 14 career interceptions, all with Green Bay, where he had been a starter since his rookie season and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016.
