Bears To Sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix To 1-Year Deal

Bears To Sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix To 1-Year Deal

The Bears are adding safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in free agency, NFL Network reported on Thursday afternoon.

Clinton-Dix earned consensus All-American recognition at Alabama in 2013, when he had a freshman teammate at cornerback named Eddie Jackson.

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have pulled off a safety swap of sorts this offseason. Clinton-Dix, meanwhile, a second-tier safety in a free agent class of first-tier safeties, gets a one-year deal to build his value with an elite defense before hitting the open market against next spring.

Clinton-Dix most recently played nine games with Washington after the Packers traded him mid-season previous year.

In Chicago, Clinton-Dix will help replace Amos, who signed a four-year deal worth $37 million in Green Bay.

The Ha Ha Clinton-Dix experiment for the Washington Redskins is over. He had 93 tackles, three interceptions, six passes defended and a fumble recovery in 2018. In nine games with the Redskins, he had 65 tackles with three pass deflections.

Clinton-Dix has 14 career interceptions, all with Green Bay, where he had been a starter since his rookie season and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016. Pro Football Focus rated Clinton-Dix as the 32nd best safety during the 2018 regular season.
