Ford introduces Grabber Lime for 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Ford introduces Grabber Lime for 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Except now it's draped over the brand's most powerful performance vehicle.

The 2020 Mustang will be available with a Grabber Lime paint option inspired by a color first used in 1971.

Ford says the Grabber Lime that will be available on the 2020 Mustang isn't an exact match to its 1970s counterpart, but it remains a vivid and eye-catching shade of green.

Though deeper in hue than its classic namesake, the Grabber Lime harkens back to its namesake color found on the muscular Mustangs of The Me Decade. We don't know how much the range-topping Shelby will cost, but Ford promises a sub-11-second quarter mile time and a 0-60 mile-per-hour (96 kilometer-per-hour) sprint of around three seconds.

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will have over 700 horsepower and be one of the quickest cars in the world when it goes on sale this fall. "This colour traces back to a Mustang heritage colour while bringing it forward with more modern, dynamic pigments and bold new energy".

Other bold colors will also be offered, including Twister Orange and Red Hot Metallic. In January, the first Shelby GT500 of this latest generation sold at a charity auction benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for $1.1 million, but it's not clear what color paint that first auto will sport.

Ford is slowly releasing details on its preeminent pony vehicle ahead of its Fall 2019 on-sale date.
