'It All Feels Cool': Home Hero Ricciardo Raring to Go at Renault

The Pole, 34, will take to his specially-adapted Williams in Melbourne after almost losing his life, then his arm, in a rally crash in northern Italy.

"Emotions... to be honest there is not really a lot of time to think about them, you are focused on the job, focused on the things to do".

DANIEL Ricciardo has made an all-class gesture to returning driver in the first press conference of the 2019 Formula 1 season at Albert Park in Melbourne on Thursday.

Ahead of his race debut with new team Renault, Daniel Ricciardo has revealed his "funky" new helmet design. "You are focused on the job and learn as much as you can about the new F1 and trying to be ready", said Kubica per the Daily Mail.

After extensive surgery, Kubica returned to motor sport in 2012 and enjoyed some success in the World Rally Championship before returning to F1 as a reserve driver for Williams past year. "I've known him from when I moved here back in 2007", said Ricciardo.

"Robert mentioned he had a pretty long "winter break".

"We didn't have the ideal start to winter testing, so there are a lot of things to be checked, to see how they will be and yes, let's see".

"It's just testament to his character and I won't ask for everyone to applaud but I really think it's awesome for him to be here".

Formula One has introduced a new rule awarding a championship point to the driver that can put in the fastest lap on race day - so long as they finish in the top 10.

Kubica said he never entirely gave up on the idea of returning to F1, but there were plenty of doubts before he finally got a start with Williams for the 2019 season.

"There is no point of wasting energy and time and thinking of hard moments, we just need to do our job". "We have to make sure we maximize our opportunities from what we have".
