Madeleine McCann Netflix doc: trailer, release date

A controversial new Netflix documentary claims that Madeleine "Maddie" McCann might still be alive and could have been abducted by human traffickers. As Variety reveals, the series "promises new interviews with people connected to the case, with input from more than 40 contributors in all", but not the McCann family.

There are also claims that police leaked information to the press, while the area where Madeleine went missing was known for its high number of sexual predators and that human trafficking was a huge problem.

"If you made a dozen movies out of this, nobody would believe them", one participant in the docuseries tells trailer viewers right off the bat.

As the Independent reports, McCann said at a statement: "We are aware that Netflix are planning to screen a documentary in March 2019 about Madeleine's disappearance".

Gamble, who was the senior child protection officer in the UK's first investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine, said he believes that we will find out what happened to the three-year-old "in his lifetime".

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann will debut on Netflix this Friday. Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, did not participate in the series.

Meanwhile another asks: "If a child isn't safe at a resort, where is she safe?"

They've also reportedly urged others to refuse doing interviews with production house Pulse Films, who's making the series.

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann is about a long-running police investigation that started when 3 year-old British girl Madeleine McCann disappeared last May 3, 2007 while she was on a holiday vacation with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann in Portugal. "We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme".

The trailer, which was released this week, refers to the case as "The world's most famous missing child case".

To date, Madeleine has been missing for nearly 12 years.

Initially, Portuguese police considered Kate and Gerry McCann suspects in their daughter's disappearance.
