Murray doesn't run, but shines as a passer at Pro Day

Head coach Pat Shurmur and Chris Mara, the senior vice president of player personnel, headed the Giants' contingent in Norman, Okla., Wednesday to scout Kyler Murray at his Pro Day.

I'm in NYC, not at the OU pro day, but texted with several scouts who are there and the reviews on Kyler Murray were all very positive. NY owns the No. 6 and No. 17 overall picks after trading wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, but would likely have to trade up to take Murray. The Miami Dolphins, for example, are a quarterback-needy team. "I had a great experience". He did not, however, take another height measurement.

NFL Network's Charley Casserly, a former executive with the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans, last month said Murray fared poorly during interviews at the NFL scouting combine. He weighed in at 205 pounds on Wednesday. I've never seen a guy get hit that like that and never complain to his O-line.

The people around him figure it's common knowledge he has blazing speed, so the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback chose not to run Wednesday in front of National Football League scouts.

A dual-threat quarterback who excels making throws on the run and extending plays, the Oklahoma staff seemed content to let Murray's game film showcase his mobility and this workout to prove he can also excel from the pocket.

"For him, it was just a matter of, it didn't make sense to run and do all those things", Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said. "I didn't want to pull anything before I got the chance to throw".
