Patriots signing WR Maurice Harris

Patriots signing WR Maurice Harris

It was revealed yesterday that the Washington Redskins did not issue any franchise tenders to restricted free agents, thus releasing them to the open market. He played there through the 2016 season, though he missed that year with injuries.

The Patriots entrance into free agency hasn't been dramatic but the team continued adding to the roster on Thursday by reportedly signing wide receiver Bruce Ellington.

Shortly after news broke that Bruce Ellington had agreed to a one-year contract with the Patriots, NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reported the team was signing Maurice Harris, as well. In seven games, he had 31 receptions for 224 yards. He also spent time with San Francisco, and in his four seasons he amassed 79 catches for 769 yards and five touchdowns. Although Harris never became a premier receiver, his attention to detail and reliability in key situations made him a competent target.

The former SC star had his best season with the Texans in 2017, grabbing 29 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns.

Harris joins the Patriots as a relatively young player with his game still largely an unknown. He's worked his way around the New England tree, now with the Pats.
