U.S. actress Lori Loughlin arrested in college bribery scandal

Actor Lori Loughlin appears in this court sketch at a hearing for a racketeering case involving the allegedly fraudulent admission of children to elite universities, at the U.S. federal courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, California, U.S., March 13, 2019.

The entire operation was masterminded by William Singer of Newport Beach, authorities said.

Last August, the 19-year-old uploaded a video in which she talked about "all the tea you need to know about me", which touched on everything from boys to college to YouTubers.

"We are going to conduct a case-by-case review for current students and graduates that may be connected to the scheme alleged by the government", said USC Media Relations rep for the school.

Federal court records unsealed Tuesday in Boston name 50 people who have been allegedly indicted as part of the nationwide scheme, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in MA. "One was to cheat on the SAT or ACT, and the other was to use his connections with Division I coaches and use bribes to get these parents' kids into school with fake athletic credentials".

In some cases, though not all, Singer ensured the child was oblivious to the cheating. "And they just have no idea that they didn't even get the score that they thought they got".

"You and your parents represent what is wrong with this country". The sham charity, the Key Worldwide Foundation, purported to help provide an education to "underprivileged students". "Your parents' actions robbed a student from a position at this university". Prosecutors said that some of the children were unaware of the scam, while others were. The FBI has charged Olivia's mother, famous actress Lori Loughlin, on suspicion of sending $500,000 worth of bribes to try and get Olivia into the University of Southern California (USC).

While sister Olivia Jade relaxes on a yacht with a USC official, sister Isabella Giannulli, 20, is dealing with the drama back home. She also turned her life as a student into a marketing opportunity, posting branded entries for Amazon and other companies. It was no accident that none were immediately charged, US Attorney Andrew Lelling of MA said Tuesday. Giannulli was taken into custody on Tuesday, but has since posted a $1 million bond and surrendered his passport.

Felicity Huffman, another famous actress implicated in this scandal, was arrested at about 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Georgetown coach who was arrested "has not coached our tennis team since December 2017, when he was placed on leave after the Office of Undergraduate Admissions identified irregularities in his recruitment practices and the University initiated an internal investigation", a university spokeswoman said in a statement.
