UEFA to investigate Neymar's VAR criticism after PSG defeat

PSG lost to Premier League side Manchester United 3-1 at home in Champions League round of 16 second leg on March 6, causing them to bow out from the competition due to inferior away goals at 3-3 on aggregate.

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian star Neymar has landed himself in hot water with UEFA following foul-mouthed comments posted on his Instagram account following PSG's Champions League exit against Manchester United.

UEFA have confirmed they are investigating Neymar's outburst on social media over the Video Assisted Referee (VAR), ESPN reports.

Neymar, 27, was incensed with Damir Skomina, the referee, for awarding United an injury-time penalty when Diogo Dalot's shot struck Presnel Kimpembe's shot.

"How do you handball behind your back?" Neymar wrote in Portuguese on the social media website.

"A disciplinary investigation has been connection with the comments made on social media", said a Uefa statement. Four guys who know nothing about football watch a slow-motion replay in front of the television.

Following the comments, UEFA have now announced that they have opened proceedings on the Brazilian global, with an outcome expected to be reached soon.

Neymar was watching injured as United overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit.
