Gilas Pilipinas will join Serbia, Italy, Angola, in the first round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup after the tournament's groupings were determined in a draw on Saturday, March 16, in Shenzhen, China. We have friends that will experience a championship for the first time.

"I think a lot of teams can pretend to be able to go all the way to the final", said Diaw, who spent 14 years in the National Basketball Association.

Senegal will enter with a world rank of 37 overall, but hold a regional rank of 2 in Africa. "So, it's pretty awesome to be a part of it". The top two teams from Group H will combine with the top two from Group H (probably France and Germany) to form a new group for the second round.

Angola, the bottom-seeded team in the group, survived Group E in the African Qualifiers. "It's not going to be easy".

Second-ranked Spain will meet Puerto Rico, Iran and Tunisia in the group stage.

Spain won the World Cup in 2006, led by Pau Gasol - and he's hoping to play for his country this summer as well.

Host China is in the easiest group, Group A - where no team is now ranked higher than No. 20.

"I believe it is going to be a great, competitive tournament", said the 40-year-old, who was given a rousing reception from the 8,000 crowd at the draw and had his name chanted on several occasions.

"It's a greater sense of honor to be playing for your country", Bryant said.

Lithuania will enter the World Cup with a world rank of 6th overall, Australia will enter with a rank of 11th after just falling outside the top 10 in the latest FIBA World Ranking list.

"At the start of the game you hear your national anthem being played, you see everyone in the arena with their flags, representing their country and colour".

The top seven teams at the World Cup will punch their tickets to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

On August 31 they play Australia in the opening game of Group H. Lithuania will be their next opponents on September 2nd and they'll round out their first three games with Senegal on September 4th.
