But now, West has seemingly come out of retirement to join Epic Games, working on the studio's "game devleopment efforts".

According to The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, Epic Games has hired games industry veteran Jason West as part of its game development efforts. Geoff Keighley broke the news via Twitter. However, with him co-founding the studio that created the multi-million dollar Call of Duty franchise and repeating that success with Titanfall, it is possible that Epic is using him as the development figurehead for a brand new blockbuster franchise. It was not clear whaat Jason West was set to do after leaving Respawn.

West left the company not long after he and Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella settled their lawsuit with Activision. Keighley stated that West was "quietly" hired by Epic Games, and that he had been working from their office for "about a month".

Jason West has been idle for the past few years since 2013 after he left gaming altogether. Some will be wondering if Epic Games hiring of West means that the developer wants to make a gritty, military shooter. The series introduced a unique mechanic where players could summon giant mechs, while at the same time improving on the traversal mechanics they first developed in the more modern Call of Duty games.
