Freshman Democrat Ocasio-Cortez says cutting aid to Israel 'on the table'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at a rally in New York City.

Ocasio-Cortez said that newly re-elected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledge to annex territory in the West Bank should be opposed by the USA government.

"I actually think that social media poses a public health risk to everybody", she said.

Ocasio-Cortez appeared on the Yahoo News podcast Skullduggeryon Sunday, and since the Season 8 GoT premiere was just a few hours away, the conversation made a natural stop in Westeros. In June of past year, ahead of her November election victory, Ocasio-Cortez said she would support impeaching Trump.

Yes, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez watches Game of Thrones - but you already knew that. "There are amplified impacts for young people, particularly children under the age of three with screen time".

"We need to expand what those policy conversations are", said Ocasio-Cortez, "because as just a citizen of this country, I would be very concerned if Trump started really pursuing more and more and more increasingly unsafe policies and everyone just standing aside and say this is normal, this is just like before". "I think it's certainly on the table, and I think it's something that can be discussed". I think it has effects on everybody. I think it has effects on everybody: "Increased isolation, depression, anxiety, addiction, escapism", she added.

Ocasio-Cortez struggled to address questions related to Israel while running for Congress last summer, admitting in one interview she is "not an expert" while also defending comments where she accused the Israeli military of a Palestinian "massacre".

Ocasio-Cortez said while she had started to "impose little rules" about her social media use - like curtailing her consumption of content on weekends - she still writes her own Twitter and Instagram posts, both platforms where her followers exceed 3 million people.
