India World Cup squad to be announced on April 15

Recently, it was announced that the BCCI selection committee will decide and declare the Indian team for the ICC World Cup 2019 on April 15.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) along with office bearers decided on the date during a meeting on Monday (April 8).

India Probable squad for World Cup 2019: The Sportsrush presents before you India's probable squad for the showpiece event. "Maybe one spot might go to the last minute, otherwise we are very clear about the rest". The right-hand batsman has not been among the runs since the series against the Windies at home past year with his only noteworthy contribution being the 90 runs he scored against New Zealand in the fifth ODI of India's tour at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

"We will only be observing the performances of the players we think should be in the squad and the list of stand-byes".

Going by Kohli and Prasad's words and not considering a U-turn on their part, an out-of-the-box selection for the World Cup can be unequivocally ruled out. Few players took the opportunity with both hands to get noticed by the selectors and then get the nod to represent the Indian National Cricket Team at the highest level irrespective of the formats. "No, not really. We are quite clear", Prasad said. Therefore, captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan are some of the automatic selections for the Indian team. Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar are likely front-runners for that spot, while chances of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer can not be ruled out either.

Alongside Rayudu, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant are the frontrunners for the position.

India will open their campaign against South Africa on 6 June. Most of the slots as far as India's squad is concerned seem to be decided, with most of the players picking themselves.
