Local city leaders respond to President Trump`s immigration tweet

The Onion is a satirical news outlet whose articles cover real and fictional current events.

The letter comes just days after the Treasury Department told Neal that it would not meet a one-week deadline to turn over the President's tax information and that it would instead consult with the Justice Department before responding further.

Mnuchin, as head of the Treasury, would become a sitting target for criminal charges if he does not comply with demands for Trump's tax returns by the deadline, according to The Daily Beast.

"We should have open arms to the human species the human race", he said.

So-called sanctuary cities are locations where local authorities actively do not work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to help round up people living in the country illegally. Salt Lake City is not considered a sanctuary city. They even apologized to me. He also purged his homeland security chief.

President Donald Trump confirmed officials have talked about the idea in a tweet Friday, and acknowledged at least part of the plan is still on the table.

Late on Saturday, Trump wrote on Twitter that the United States "has the absolute legal right" to transfer apprehended illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, without citing evidence.

Transporting immigrants on buses or trains would "evoke a lot of imagery to Japanese internment", he said.

Throughout his time in the White House, Trump has criticized sanctuary cities and those who run them, as these individuals and localities refuse to cooperate with federal immigration agencies on illegal immigrants.

Utah's only Democrat in Congress, Rep. "Where they say they have set up communities by law that allow people into their states, into their towns, that have no right to be here", he said.

"It pisses the members off if you don't give them information that they think they should have".

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, didn't address Trump's proposal directly when asked for comment about it Friday.

The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse announced this week that an analysis found that migrants in cities such as NY and Los Angeles are 20% less likely to be arrested than in cities without sanctuary policies.

Mnuchin, who has consulted with the White House and Department of Justice about Trump's tax returns, said earlier this week that Neal's request raised concerns about the scope of the committee's authority, privacy protections for USA taxpayers and the legislative objective of lawmakers in seeking the documents.

Sanders said the idea would be to spread out the number of migrants so the strain would not be on "one or two border communities".

Romero says he goes about daily errands without worry of discrimination.

States that offer this protection in some of their cities and counties include: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington.

Sources told CNN and others that the idea came from Trump's top immigration adviser, Stephen Miller, who has taken an anti-immigrant stance during his time in the White House.

"As the acting deputy, I was not pressured by anyone at the White House on this issue", he said in a statement.
