Solskjaer ready to be 'ruthless' in revamping squad

We may expect a flurry of departures from Old Trafford this summer, and club's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has just confirmed one.

The report says that PSG are in pole position for the Spaniard, but Unai Emery remains a huge fan of him and is willing to enter the race.

"We've had Antonio, he's going, we've had Ashley, we've had Paul, we've had David, Chris has been captain, so there are players here who can be captain on the pitch".

But would Herrera be an upgrade on Emery's current midfield options?

"Unfortunately that has come at a time when there are contract talks but that is ongoing so I can not really comment too much on how far they have come down the line and what he is deciding".

"It's going to be survival of the fittest or survival of the best", Solskjaer said ahead of West Ham's visit to Old Trafford today.

"We played against a Barcelona team, which is one of the teams that sets the standard in European football, and we're under no other illusion than it's going to be hard work and there's going be some tough decisions made by me, Mick (Phelan) and the club". "That's how ruthless we have to be".

Real Madrid continue to look for ways to help Zinedine Zidane restructure the team in the summer, and with Paul Pogba's name continuing to appear, Casemiro has admitted that the French midfielder could play with any team.

Manchester United: Despite performing well more often than not, United enters this game having lost two of their last three Premier League battles which saw them go from third to sixth. If he comes to Madrid he would be welcomed very well - we know he is a great player.

"United's performances in their home defeats against Barca, Paris St-Germain and Juventus have shown how far they are off the top clubs in Europe. He always gives his best".

The Red Devils will be eager to seize their chance to make up some ground on their top-four rivals given that Arsenal and Chelsea FC aren't in action until later in the weekend.
