The Epic 'Lion King' Trailer Includes The Debut Of Timon And Pumbaa

Though in the case of The Lion King, it's not quite live-action as the entire film is done in CG animation. Directed by Jon Favreau, the trailer gives a glimpse inside the world of the jungle ruled by Mufasa.

Disney has released a new trailer for Jon Favreau's "live-action" adaptation of The Lion King.

Nearly every character Lion King fans are acquainted with makes an appearance in the trailer.

The trailer confirms that Favreau's Lion King will follow the story we all know - little Simba is sent into exile by uncle Scar after the death of father/king Mufasa. However, as we see in the first official The Lion King trailer, that CG animation is breathtakingly handsome. The cast also includes Alfre Woodard is Simba's mother Sarabi, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Eric Andre as Azizi, John Oliver as Zazu and Keegan-Michael Key as a hyena.

Here's a synopsis of the upcoming film: Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. JD McCrary (Tyler Perry's The Paynes, Vital Signs) fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can't wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Hairspray Live, Broadway's "The Lion King") brings tough cub Young Nala to life. Nevertheless, the animation is stunning, and given the nostalgia factor, I wouldn't be surprised if The Lion King ends up as the highest grossing film of 2019. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
